This contribution presents the study of eccentricity in a tubular linear flux switching permanent magnet (TLFSPM) machine using 3D finite element analysis. Regarding the 3D nature of magnetic flux under eccentricity fault, 3D finite element (FE) method is used for that purpose. The developed 3D FE models construction and exploitation are presented in details. Different aspects related to the construction of the studied TLFSPM are considered in this study. The effect of eccentricity is studied under open-circuit and load conditions. Means to reduce the effect of the eccentricity, and more specifically the attraction force between the moving and static armatures, are explored.
