This paper proposes a novel trapezoidal-type hybrid-excitation levitation electromagnet for low-speed maglev. Firstly, the structure of the novel hybrid-excitation electromagnet is introduced. Secondly, the force performances are calculated based on 2-D FE models. Thirdly, the influence of the excitation current and lateral displacement on force performance is analyzed. Finally, the comparison is done with the conventional hybrid-excitation structures and electrical-excitation structure, and the proposed structure is optimized further.
