Abstract
In this paper, a dual-stator tubular linear machine (DSTLM) is proposed with low detent force and low thrust force ripple by using the split teeth structure. The machine adopts a dual-stator configuration with spoke-type permanent magnets (PMs) on the translator. The phase-group concentrated-coil windings are designed on the outer stator, while the inner stator has no windings. Every stator tooth is divided into three split teeth to modulate the air gap magnetic flux. The stator-shift method is applied to suppress the detent force. And different types of stator teeth are designed to analyze the performance of the machine. Finally, the performance of the proposed DSTLM is compared with the basic model by finite element method (FEM). According to the results, the proposed DSTLM has the advantages of low detent force and low thrust force ripple.
