Abstract
In order to overcome the transverse-flux permanent magnet linear motor’s (TFPMLM) shortcomings of high leakage flux and high cogging force when the cores are made by silicon steel, a double-sided double-excited TFPMLM has been developed, in which the soft magnetic composite (SMC) material and silicon steel are employed to construct its cores. For the purpose of improving the modeling and calculating efficiency with a high precision. A nonlinear equivalent magnetic network (EMN) model of the TFPMLM is proposed. Moreover, to decrease more the computing time, a flexible mesh generation technique is applied. After that, the air-gap flux density distribution, back voltage and force waveforms when at no-load and at load are calculated by the EMN model and 3-D finite-element method, the results from the two methods are compared with each other, respectively. At last, influences of SMC on the cogging force and flux leakage are studied by the EMN model.
