Abstract
In this paper, a linear permanent-magnet vernier machine is proposed, in which both magnets and armature windings are placed in the mover, while the long stator consists of an iron core only. The proposed machine integrates three magnetization directions of magnets together, which can enhance flux density. The U-type pole structure is adopted to improve the thrust density. The structure of the motor is introduced. Then the finite element method is used to analyze the electromagnetic characteristics of the motor, which proves that the U-type linear vernier permanent-magnet motor(U-LVPM) has the advantages of high thrust and low cogging force.
