Abstract
Permanent magnet electrodynamic suspension (PM-EDS) has the disadvantages of small suspension robustness and large magnetic resistance at low speed. In this paper, a 2-D layered model of the PM-EDS system is established based on the quasi-static field theory, and the suspension force and magnetic resistance are analyzed. The correctness of the analytical solution is verified by establishing the finite element (FEM) model. Besides, the damping characteristic of the system is analyzed, and the method of passive damping coil added to the permanent magnet which can improve the stability of the PM-EDS is proposed. Through the FEM analysis, it is found that the time for the suspension system to return to the stable state decreases by adopting the proposed method under the same disturbance.
