Abstract
A novel flux-switching transverse-flux permanent magnet tube linear motor is presented in this paper, both permanent magnet and armature winding of the novel motor are fixed on the one side, the other side merely contains core. The motor is convenient for manufacturing and suitable for low-speed large torque direct-drive applications. Firstly, the basic structure and working principle of the motor are introduced in detail. Secondly, the expression of electromagnetic torque is deduced by a basic magnetic circuit model. Then, the basic characteristic of the novel motor is analyzed by 3D finite element method (3D-FEM), such as back electrodynamic force (back EMF) and cogging torque. At last, the influence of structure parameters on the back EMF and torque density is investigated, which provides a useful foundation for optimum design of the novel transverse flux motor.
