Abstract
In this paper, a new 2D modelling approach for Linear Synchronous Machines is presented. The Spectral Element Method (SEM) is coupled with Harmonic Modelling (HM). HM is used to model the airgap and the magnet array of the machine so that the modelling of the moving part is facilitated. Also, the post-processing is performed easier and the final system of equations is drastically reduced.
